It's October 23, 2013, and I've just completed updating this blog. First, I'm surprised to discover I have posts going back to 2008 -- I've been involved with A Writer's Book of Days for more than five years and have completed only about 40 of its prompts. This is embarrassing!

Well, there's been a number of challenges the past five years, including a diagnosis of Stage III-A colon cancer. On December 7, 2013, I will be two years cancer free.

I'm hoping now to get back to my writing. My primary project is a memoir about my 2000-2008 relationship with a doctor from Cairo, Egypt, that I've entitled, A Love in a Time of Terrorism. My goal is to have that book completed by December 2014.

In the meantime, I'll "exercise" with the prompts from A Writer's Book of Days.

How I use A Writer's Book of Days
As suggested by author Judy Reeves, author of A Writer's Book of Days, from whence the writing prompts derive, this blog represents my commitment to 30 minutes a day of timed writing. Sometimes I write for more than 30 minutes, sometimes for less. Sometimes the writings are edited; sometimes they are not. It depends on how engaged I become with the piece.

I own the 1999 publication of the book; the revised edition is available for purchase at Amazon.com.
